Although it is more well-known for women to have to deal with high standards, unrealistic ideals are present for men as well. Certain personality traits and characteristics are valued in order to "be a man." To be a man is to be brave, tough, lack emotional expression, angry, physically strong, and to have interests in things such as sports, cars, and construction. Men are expected to constantly prove their manhood by not acting like what society percieves as feminine. These ideals are often rooted and hidden in society.
