My name is Angela Orlando. I am an undergraduate student at University of Buffalo studying Speech & Hearing Science. I intend to graduate with my Bachelor's degree in Spring of 2017.
I was born in Buffalo, NY but lived in Florida from 2010 to 2013. I have an associate degree from State College of Florida in Bradenton, FL. I have also obtained college credits from Erie Community College, Canisius College, University of South Florida, and Daemen College. I plan to apply to graduate school for Speech Pathology.
I like to travel and go camping. I love hiking, biking and rafting. My hobbies include gardening, listening to music, playing the ukulele, and playing tennis. I enjoy watching live music every chance I get. I love trying new things and am always ready for an adventure.
I enjoy contributing to my community and regularly volunteer at a local church kitchen. From 2004 to 2008, I volunteered as a summer camp counselor for the Depew-Lancaster Boys and Girls Club. While attending college in Florida, I belonged to a club called Biotechnology Alliance for Suncoast Biology Educators (BASBE). We visited local high schools and performed biotechnology experiments with students to spark their interest in science and answer any questions they had about college. Below is a video that summarizes the goals of BASBE and how the grant was acquired to start the program. I had the pleasure of working with students from the classes of both the high school teachers featured in the video.
