                    MONITOR2 and MSUPPORT
          Behavior Monitoring and Support Programs

1. MONITOR2's performance is limited by the capacity of the
computer it is operating on. TRY A SAMPLE RUN BEFORE USING
THE PROGRAM IN AN ACTUAL TEST to be sure that it will
perform as you expect.

2. MONITOR2 makes use of 2 specifications files (SPEC.DOC
and SPEC2.DOC) which allow for both a procedure involving up
to 35 behaviors and a second procedure using up to 9
behaviors to be operated from a single disk or subdirectory.

3. The monitoring program uses the computer's internal
clock to obtain start and stop times for each observation.
Start times are subtracted from stop times to derive
durations. Consequently, errors will occur if the system
clock passes midnight during a test session.

4. Where frequency, rather than duration, is the relevant
criterion, MONITOR2 can be used by alternating between the
key representing the behavior of interest and another key.
An "other" key can be designated for this purpose.

5. Keeping track during testing of which keys represent
which behaviors can be facilitated by affixing imprinted
tape tabs to the appropriate keys.

6. MSUPPORT supports disk files created using MONITOR2. It
does not support files created with the original monitoring
program.

7. MONITOR2's disk-filing routine inserts leading blank
spaces in the lines storing control and frequency
information. The merge option in MSUPPORT will remove these
spaces, thereby reducing storage requirements. The other
MSUPPORT options can still be used with merged files.
